A bittersweet goodbye

Two weeks ago, we were informed at the Bite that today would be our last shoot. The move affects a professional family of folks that we've been working with every week for almost two years. I am grateful for the opportunities I've had because of the Bite. The Bite opened up lots of doors for me - it helped me secure representation which allowed me to dive head first into the Dallas acting scene. I met three of the most amazing people - my co-hosts - Hilary Kennedy, Rance Adams and Joe Gumm. My abilities and confidence are better because of working with them. They are all the best. And the rest of the crew - they helped to make sure I was camera ready every week. All these members of my Bite family will be missed.

I guess the bitter part of the sweet is that the Bite is continuing without us. Faced with budget cuts, they've decided to go in another direction. And I can appreciate that. We had a good run --- it's just a bummer to see it end.

So I'm closing this chapter and getting ready to open up the next one that is sure to be one of the most interesting life chapters yet! There is so much to tell you - I can't yet! But stay tuned!

Save the date!!!

Next year's Mrs. Texas pageant will again be in Corsicana. The fun will go down March 3-5! The pageant is moving up next year because the national pageant is going to be held earlier. I'm looking forward to representing Frisco again. Maybe third time will be the charm!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Father's Day is always so bittersweet. On the one hand, I'm married to the most incredible man who is the best dad in the world to our kids. It is so great sharing this day with him. But as families are celebrating their loved ones, there are constant reminders that my dad is no longer here to celebrate with. I was holding it together pretty well in church today until they showed a picture of a bride with her dad - yep, lost it! Good thing I didn't have mascara on or I would've looked a hot mess.

It's crazy to think that come this fall, we will hit the 25th anniversary of my father's death. For those who don't know, he suffered a massive heart attack in 1985 at the young age of 43. I was only 9 when he passed, but I remember a wonderful man who loved his family and who would do anything for his kids. He's my rockstar.

These pictures aren't the best, but my sister posted them on FB this morning and I thought they'd be neat to share. We don't have a ton of pics of dad - we grew up way before technology made taking pictures and sharing them so easy. But we do have a cherished few. Maybe this explains why I'm ALWAYS taking pictures. Happy dad's day everyone!

TOP 5!!!!

I did it - I managed to crack the top five at Mrs. Texas! I was the fourth runner up this year - no easy feat since the competition was tough! The top three were all first timers in the Mrs. Texas pageant, although all have some pageant experience. I feel very fortunate to have placed at all! There were plenty of deserving women this year!

Congratulations to this year's winner - Shannon Patterson! Shannon rocked it and totally deserved the title!

Even more exciting, I received the award for Best Interview! I was shocked to hear my name called because I didn't feel overly confident about my performance. It's hard sitting in front of the judges being peppered with questions for four minutes, but very easy to second guess everything you said afterward. Apparently they liked what I had to say!

The judges were absolutely wonderful. And it was so great to visit with old and new friends. Now y'all now I'm going to have to compete again next year. Thanks again to my official sponsors - especially Sheila Stoutmire for getting me bikini ready and Bonnie Benavidez of Avasiare Cosmetics for getting me stage ready! I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Mexican? Italian? American?

This is my dilemma - what post-pageant meal will I indulge in after the Mrs. Texas America competition this weekend? Mexican food is a favorite - something oozing with cheese like an enchilada. On the Border is a good call. But what about a big juicy burger with bacon and cheese? Yum, that sounds good too. These are foods I've been depriving myself of in anticipation of this pageant - and I'm dying to eat like normal again. See folks - this is why diets don't work. When you deprive yourself of the foods you love, it's all you think about and you end up over-indulging later. Moderation is key!

I am looking forward to this weekend - it'll be nice to get away for a couple of days and have some fun girl time, although tension will be high and things a little stressed. I pick up my gown tomorrow. I dropped of my interview suit for pressing this morning. I've got a bathing suit that looks awesome! I'm ready to go! I could not have done it without my sponsors, and I want to give them the shout outs they deserve!

Thanks a bunch to Sheila Stoutmire for getting me bikini ready. Sheila is a fellow NFL wife who ran track in college. She's also an Advocare consultant and runs a local track club called the Jackrabbits. Her bootcamps are amazing! She's been an incredible sponsor, and I look forward to our next three week session that starts Monday!

And my dear friend Bonnie Benavidez of Avasiare. She is amazing! Bonnie came over and gave me a makeup application last week. One of the judges told me last year that I really needed to step up my makeup for the interview portion of the pageant - thanks to Bonnie, I'll be ready! Bonnie has an amazing line of skincare and cosmetics - all of which I'll be using for the pageant. Make sure you check her out!

Thanks to everyone for your support!

The television debut of D210 TV

Wow - what a fun party! The Fashionistas (www.thefashionistas.org) hosted a fun debut party at Rok Republic in downtown Dallas for the television debut of D210! This little party caused some confusion - I had several people ask, "I thought D210 was already on t.v..." Not quite. We've been web-based (www.d210.tv) but hit the airwaves this Saturday on the Texas Channel on Time Warner cable. Check out the fabulous pics!

Coming soon to a television near you!

Well, if you live in Texas and have Time Warner Cable anyway. I'm excited to announce that D210 will be making it's television debut this weekend - June 5th - on the Texas Channel.

We've been working on the web version of the show for months, so it's exciting to see all of our hard work pay off.

We're having a premiere party Saturday night - come check it out!
