It's Official - Football Wives are Invading the Tube

Thanks to the PR gods for finally unleashing my little secret - I can officially announce that I'm involved in a wonderful project for VH1 - Football Wives. I've been working with an amazing ensemble cast putting together a show that will be fun, entertaining and real. I can't wait to tell our story about what life has been like in the pro-football world for the last decade. We air October 24th - make sure you check it out.

I do want to point out one little issue with the official announcement today - it lists Ryan as a tight end for the UFL. Unfortunately, he's not on a roster right now due to injury (although he's healthy - so we're hoping that will change), so that characterization is inaccurate. We're big proponents of the UFL in this household - it's given my husband an opportunity to continue to play the game he loves. Because Ryan is no longer eligible to play in the NFL, he was planning on playing this last season of his career for one reason and one reason only - for the love of the game. It's not the money - the UFL doesn't pay that much. But before you knock the UFL, check out the rosters of the teams - they are full of NFL-caliber talent, pro-bowlers, etc. It's good, hardcore football played by men who love the game.

The inaccurate label is unfortunate as well because the "UFL" next to my husband's name may be throwing some people off - apparently UFL wives aren't REALLY football wives. REALLY? Let's get real - Ryan played seven seasons in the NFL. That's no easy feat when (a) he was undrafted out of college and (b) the average NFL career is only three years. And it was a hard-fought decade of football with plenty of highs and lows - injuries, roster cuts. You name it - we've been through it. Now we are at a point that ALL pro-football players will encounter - retirement and transitioning into life after football. It hasn't been easy, and I can't wait to let people get a glimpse of our reality. I think it'll make an interesting tale.

So make sure you tune in - in the meantime, here's the official presser released today that includes a shout-out to my castmates:

Get Your Game Face on for the Ladies of VH1's 'Football Wives'

New Series Premieres Sunday, October 24 at 10:30 PM ET/PT

Catch Sneak Peeks and Exclusive Clips on VH1.com
NEW YORK, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Tighten your helmets and put on those extra pads because football season is about to get intense as the wives and girlfriends behind some of the sport's most elite players take the field on VH1 Sunday, October 24 at 10:30 PM ET/PT.

A flashy team of Football Wives will give viewers a never-before-seen look into the glamorous, and dramatic, life of a professional football player's spouse in VH1's original series. VH1's "Football Wives" include:

•Pilar Sanders, married to Deion Sanders, all-pro cornerback, retired
•Amanda Davis married to Leonard Davis, guard, Dallas
•Chanita Foster, married to George Foster, tackle, UFL
•Brittany Pigrenet, girlfriend of David Buehler, kicker, Dallas
•Dawn Neufeld, married to Ryan Neufeld, tight end, UFL
•Melani Ismail, married to Rocket Ismail, receiver, retired
•Erin McBriar, married to Mat McBriar, punter, Dallas
•Mercedes Nelson ex-girlfriend of a star player, Dallas

Set in the cradle of American football, Dallas, this series goes inside the real-life locker room of the spouses of some of the biggest footballers in the game. Many of these ladies live the life. They drive the best cars, live in the biggest mansions, wear designer clothes and jewelry, and travel first class. But living the high life is not all glamour and is frequently fleeting. Football players are often injured so their partners are forced to not only play wife, but also be a mother or nurse to their man. The careers of these modern-day gladiators span only a few years on average and their life-expectancy is alarmingly low. There is often a fine line between the stars who collect big contracts and the journeymen who fight to stay in the league, sometimes struggling to pay their bills. And unlike basketball players, football stars travel less for games and are more often home with their families. What price will they pay for enduring the equivalent of multiple head-on collisions on any given Sunday?

Full episodes and extra scenes from "Football Wives" will be available on VH1.com and through VH1 Mobile each week following the show's on-air premiere.

"Football Wives" is produced by Shed Media. Executive producing for Shed Media are Nick Emmerson, Jennifer O'Connell, Alex Demyanenko, and Leola Westbrook. Tom Huffman is a consulting producer. Shaunie O'Neal and Phil Robinson are executive producers. Executive producing for VH1 are Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes and Noah Pollack.

Football Update

The good news - Ryan's healthy and cleared to play this season. The bad news - so far, Omaha has shown no interest in bringing Ryan back to be a part of the team. We are hoping that changes - Ryan REALLY wants to play this season since it will be his last. Unfortunately, we're back in that oh-so-familiar place waiting for the phone to ring. We'll be praying it does, but in the meantime, I'm excited to have my partner in crime back. Date night tonight!

I'm about to get my 15 minutes, and then some...

As many of you know, I'm working on a television project set to premiere in October. It's been a lot of hard work - trust that I'm earning the money I'm making. But I'm very aware that this opportunity could open up so many doors for me. So I thought today's horoscope was a good one - relevant as usual...

My horoscope today - It's time for you to shine, Moonchild. You now face - or will soon face - a monumental opportunity to showcase your unique talents and abilities. This is way more than just your fifteen minutes of fame. This is somet...hing that could change your whole place in life, and will offer a lasting improvement in your financial well-being, your sense of security, and your ability to find harmony in your life - with yourself and with others. Don't be afraid to blow your own horn. The more confidence and enthusiasm you exude, the better.

I'll take it.

An update on Ryan - we had a little square last weekend that required a knee MRI. Fortunately, the tests revealed an injury that Ryan should be able to work through with rehab. He's currently in Alabama but is looking forward to heading back to Omaha this week to rejoin his team. Please send healthy vibes his way!

No surprise that single mommyhood is kicking my behind. Trying to balance my regular job, my t.v. job, auditions that come up, AND home life, and I'm just mush by about 7 o'clock at night. I was able to spend some good quality time with the babies today enjoying the perfect Texas sun and weather out in the backyard. Four or five poop diaper changes later and I couldn't wait for my angels to go to bed. :) Hopefully everyone is back at school tomorrow - Bryn's had a bit of a cold. Mommy needs her work break to get out of the house for a bit.

More updates coming soon...
