Reunion

Ryan and I had the opportunity to attend the Cowboys vs. Bills game at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday - thanks to Melani and Rocket Ismail hooking us up with tickets, VIP passes to the owner's club, etc. We tailgated a bit with good friends Erin McBriar and Britt Pigrenet. After the game, our old friend Paul Lancaster got us family passes so we could catch up with some of Ryan's old teammates. I especially enjoyed seeing the training staff - we all got to know each other pretty well over injuries and rehab.

We miss our Buffalo peeps - looking forward to heading up there next year for a game.

A neat thing happened during this game I'd be remiss to address. David Nelson, who I had the chance to meet at a Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids event, scored a touchdown during the game, then proceeded to run what looked to be a lap around the field. He was actually taking the ball to his Dallas Cowboy cheerleader. He gave her a big ol' hug and handed her the ball. It was very sweet.

Team Will - DFW Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Will and I trekked over to Grand Prairie today for the DFW Walk Now for Autism Awareness. Thanks to the help of several supporters, Team Will raised $275! After seeing all of the people out at the walk today, I am inspired to step up and do more next year. Team Will will be a team - and I'm going to set a fundraising goal of $1,000!

We've come such a long way in our autism battle. I remember the days when Will would hardly make any eye contact. He'd barely say a word. He kept to himself and seemed to be oblivious to life around him. Today, we were walking out of the Air Hogs stadium and Will said, "There's Shawn." Sure enough, he recognized one of his classmates from school. Moments like this give me hope, and hope is what keeps me going!

Thanks again to all of those who supported Team Will!

Front House Management's Celebrity Fashion Experience Vol. III

I had the distinct pleasure of hosting the Celebrity Fashion Experience last week. I attended the event in the spring as a guest and had a blast. I was thrilled (and nervous) to host the event this time around.

The roster of designers was impressive. Nicholas D'Aurizio from Project Runway (sidenote: I totally forgot the name of the show and had a total brain fart in front of a couple hundred people) was the first collection to hit the catwalk. The designs were amazing! Next, sleek men's designs from J. Cheikh. The designer collaborated with superstar Mike Ruiz on the collection - it was wonderful. And the show stopper that night - Mr. Reco Chapple. Reco started his show off with scantily clad male models rockin' itty bitty swimsuits. The ladies in the crowd were very pleased. Then the ladies hit the runway in amazing designs. One gown took my breathe away!

Thanks to QC Cong for taking such amazing pics!

Challenge Air

A while back, I met some wonderful people from an organization called Challenge Air. Challenge Air provides an amazing experience for children with special needs. Their Mission Statement says it all:

Mission Statement

Challenge Air builds self-esteem and confidence of children and youth with specials needs, through the experience of flight.

Since 1993, Challenge Air has enriched the lives of children and youth with special needs through its unique aviation programs. Challenge Air’s mission reflects the life-changing impact the flight experience has on children, families, donors, sponsors and communities as a whole.

With a network of nearly 3,500 volunteers nationwide, volunteers serve as pilots, ground crew, fundraisers, planning committee members and in numerous other capacities. As Challenge Air continues to grow and add more programs across the country, its mission will remain true..... To continue to provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to special needs children and youth through the gift of flight.

A couple weeks ago, Will was fortunate enough to participate in Fly Day here in Dallas. Will had a blast - what a neat and amazing experience.

Happy Halloween

Our little bride and army ranger had a blast trick-or-treating! We had picture perfect weather in Texas for the festivities.

Heels 2 Heal Gala

I know it's been a bit since I last posted, but I've been sick as a dog! I left work early last week on Thursday - I felt a sinus headache coming on and that terrible itch in the back of the throat that means a cold is coming. By Friday, I was laid out in the bed. My head ached, I sneezed constantly. It was pretty awful and I ended up cancelling a bunch of plans - work, two auditions and an afternoon CLE. I laid in the bed all day Saturday because I had to build up some strength to host the Heels 2 Heal Gala benefiting the Women Called Moses organization. www.womencalledmoses.org The event raised funds to promote domestic violence awareness and services.

I wish I could say that I'm one of the lucky ones who has never had to deal with domestic violence. Unfortunately, my mother was in an abusive relationship for several years and I can tell you that I was deeply affected by that. Having been touched by domestic violence, I felt honored to be hosting this event surrounded by people who want to help.

A bonus of the night - my Football Wives castmate Melani Ismail and her husband Rocket were at the event. It's always fun hanging with good friends.
