I was up and out the door before the kids got out of bed this morning... Ryan handled daddy duties like a champ and sent the kids off to their first day of school looking... perfect. Will is now a 4th grader in Miss Bigger's class. Bryn is a 1st grader in Mrs. Thornton's class.

I've mentioned before how much I love my job. Today was a great example of just how cool it can be. My morning started with an interview with movie director Thomas Carter. You may have heard of some of his movies - Coach Carter and Save the Last Dance to name a few. His new movie When the Game Stands Tall tells the true story of De La Salle's high school football dynasty in California. I had a chance to screen the movie last week and it is phenomenal. It was a true honor to meet and chat with Mr. Carter. You can see his interview here.

I had a chance to chat with some of the ladies from Braxton Family Values via satellite. Their insanely popular reality show on WE TV is getting ready for it's 4th season. From what these sisters had to say today, it's going to be another great season.
Then host of The Talk Sheryl Underwood stopped by. I missed her the first time she was on the show but not today. This lady is the real deal and such a hoot! You'll have to check out her clip from the show today for some laughs.

What an exciting week! Yesterday, we debuted a new show on KTXD called "Take Charge Parenting." It's the television version of the widely popular website and radio show The Kid's Doctor featuring pediatrician Dr. Sue Hubbard. The show is live right after The Broadcast on Tuesdays from 10:30-11. Click here for a link to our first episode and stay tuned for more to come! I am thrilled to be hosting this new show and I'm excited about what's to come!

When it comes to goodbyes, two songs come to mind. The first is "Saying Goodbye" from The Muppets Take Manhattan. The second is "Hard Candy Christmas" from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (I know). Both songs floated around in my head today as we said "goodbye" to our fellow Broadcast co-host Suzie Humphreys.
Suzie is an institution in Dallas - from her early days at KVIL to her motivational cross-country speaking engagements, everyone I've encountered lights up when I mention the name "Suzie Humphreys." Suzie and I have been rotating hosting duties for several months now so we often missed each other at the table. Fortunately, there has been plenty opportunity for us to get to know each other, and while we haven't always seen eye-to-eye on issues, I've got the utmost respect and admiration for this incredible woman. Her presence on The Broadcast will certainly be missed.
