It's that time of year again... Mrs. Texas 2015!

Last weekend I attended the annual workshop for the upcoming Mrs. Texas pageant. This year's competition is going to be fierce. Insane really. There are 50 contestants - I think the most I've ever competed with is 35 or 36. Former winners can also compete - sounds like there are three total titleholders competing again. This will be my 7th year competing and I'm excited about the competition - it will be great!

And thanks to my returning dream team, that crown is always within reach! Bonnie Benavidez of Avasiare Professional Skincare & Cosmetics will be doing my makeup again. And Dr. Naila Malik (who is the only person I let stick needles into my forehead) will be hooking me up with her awesome skincare services. And of course Katie Tellor will be hooking up my hair again. I don't know what I'd do without these awesome ladies!

Let the preparations begin!

It's Only Tuesday???

It was one of those mornings. My alarm sounded at 6:30 a.m. and I quickly hit the off button. 30 minutes later I woke for the second time... yep, I'd fallen back to sleep and was running late. I'm not sure if it was the residual effects of the craziness that was yesterday, but I was dog tired and wanted to stay in the bed. Surprisingly, I still made it to work on time.

And it was a good day at the office indeed. My OOTD (outfit of the day) from Tootsie's was a beautiful Tadashi Shoji dress. It got tons of compliments.

One of my goals for the new year was to blog a bit more consistently and do a better job at keeping y'all caught up with the craziness that is my life. But a nasty stomach bug went through this house and I was down for the count (Bryn too - well, she actually gave it to me). So here we are on a Monday and I figured today is as good a day as any to get started.

I had my second root canal today so coherently typing this is going to be somewhat challenging. So, I'll keep it short.

We had a great time on The Broadcast this morning. We started with a SAG Awards red carpet discussion. My favorites:

Joanne Froggatt - Downton Abbey

Reese Witherspoon

Camilla Alves

Sadly, my list of "worsts" was way longer as I was COMPLETELY UNDERWHELMED with the red carpet at the event.

Sadly, Rosamund Pike, who I absolutely adore, was a miss again. I know she recently had a baby but you has options. I will say this dress is better than the maxi pad looking garment she wore to the Golden Globes.

The other two I didn't particularly care for were Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. Julia has rocked some amazing pantsuits - this one did nothing for me. And Jennifer... the tatas aren't as perky anymore. I've seen her in low cut, very revealing, plunging outfits lately that give SAG a whole new meaning. Both women are so beautiful... I hate when I disagree with their chosen garb for the evening.

Today was a fun Monday on the show. I interviewed an advertising exec who gave me the scope on this year's Super Bowl commercials and jammed with some of the dancers from Cirque du Soleil's Cavalia show that is set up here in my hometown of Frisco. But the highlight of my morning - Chef Blythe came in to cook. I love, love, love Chef Blythe. She made this delicious tacos that were perfect. My co-host Lisa and I instantly plotted our trip to see Blythe in her element at her restaurant Kitchen LTO this upcoming Friday night. She had me at "fried chicken and waffles."

I like tacos...

And it's a Tootsie's week on the Broadcast. My dress is by L'Agence. It was so comfy - loved the silhouette.

Come back tomorrow for my thoughts on Miss Universe and for pics from my pageant watch party!
